Me, My Selfie & I
How do you see yourself? Want to show the world...? Me, My Selfie & I is an exploration of feminine experiences of self and re-representation. It engages female makers in an investigation of public/private, shown/hidden selves. The project strives to reinstate agency in how we construct our ‘selves’ and confronts the complexity inherent in placing our own images out into the public sphere.
Me, My Selfie & I was a free project and open to young women. Over six weeks of creative sessions, lead by professional artists, the project explored ways of making and mixing solo performance and visual self portraits using photography, video, the physical body, projections, shadows, online spaces and live performance. The project was created and facilitated by professional artists under the auspice of Signal, Melbourne City Council's creative studio for young people.
